For churches · Linguistic hospitality

Everyone is welcome.
In their own language.

Espero captions and translates church events live into more than 100 languages. The speaker speaks as usual. Visitors follow in their own language on their own phone.

That is linguistic hospitality. After the event, you can stay in touch in the Espero app.

You can also listen to the translation with an AI-generated voice.

See how it works (21 s). Images and voices were created with AI.

Video: a visitor scans a QR code and follows the talk in their own language on a phone. Another visitor listens with earbuds, and the conversation continues over coffee.

For the organizer: prepare and test

Create an event. The app's guide takes you through languages, audio (phone, mixer via USB or Dante), the words of songs and shared readings, and a rehearsal. You need a device, an internet connection and a microphone or sound from the mixing desk. Share the QR code or link. Pause the microphone when captions are not needed.

After the event, you can download a TXT, HTML or PDF file. Corrections update every language. The text is kept for 30 days from the start of the event.

Before, during and after

The group around your event

In Espero, every event has a group where everyone takes part in their own language. The connection begins before the event and continues after it.

  1. Before the event

The invitation, the schedule and the conversation are in the same group. Everyone reads and writes in their own language and can say whether they are coming.

  2. During the event

Everyone follows the captions or listens to the translation in their own language. Listeners can write a question in the group in their own language, and the organizer can show it on the room screen without the sender’s name. Every member reads the questions and answers in their own language.

  3. After the event

The conversation continues in the group, each in their own language. The text stays readable for 30 days from the start of the event. The organizer can download it as a TXT, HTML or PDF file and let listeners download it too.

Reading captions needs no account. A free account is enough for listening and the conversation, and the organizer decides who can join the group.

02 · Continue

Stay connected

The event ends. The conversation can continue.

Espero is a multilingual messaging app. Conversation and questions for the speaker can continue in the event group in each person’s own language.

  1. Keep talking in the event group. A free Espero account opens the group conversation. An email address is enough.
  2. Write in your language. Everyone reads in theirs. The original message remains available.
  3. Stay in touch. Use church groups, one-to-one conversations and groups with mission partners.

Evangelism and everyday encounters

Share your faith. Make room for the other person’s words.

When you meet a visitor or a neighbour, Espero helps you talk across languages. You can share, listen and offer an invitation.

  1. Face to face. One phone between you helps you welcome a new visitor at the door or keep talking over coffee after the service. Each of you speaks your own language, while the other reads the text and hears the translation in their language with an AI-generated voice. The other person needs no Espero app or account.
  2. Voice message. Leave a message in your language. The recipient reads and hears the translation in theirs. You can also listen to the translation with an AI-generated voice.
  3. A message or a group. Write an invitation in your language. The other person reads it in theirs. The original message remains available.

Frequently asked questions

Answers for church events.

You can also listen to the translation with an AI-generated voice.

For church leaders

What does one service cost?

Each caption language costs €1.50 per hour, so a 1.5-hour service in two languages costs €4.50. Listening to the translation costs €1.50 per hour per language. The smallest purchase is 10 hours (€15), and purchased hours do not expire.

Can we try it first?

Organizers get 2 hours of microphone time free, no card needed. The time can be used in parts.

Does Espero work alongside an interpreter?

Yes. If an interpreter is present at the event, Espero brings in all the other languages. Everyone gets the text in their own language, and they can also listen to the translation.

How many people can follow?

The price includes up to 100 listeners per language. For larger audiences, contact hello@espero.live.

Can we get the text of the sermon afterwards?

Yes. After the service, the organizer can download the text as a TXT, HTML or PDF file with the “Transcript, PDF and corrections” button. On a computer, the PDF is made from the browser's print dialog. The text is kept for 30 days from the start of captioning.

Can the text be corrected after the service?

Yes. The organizer can correct the text line by line or with “Find and replace”, and the correction updates every language.

Does Espero recognize names and church terms?

The organizer can add an event glossary of up to 30 terms, such as names and church words. The glossary helps recognize and translate them correctly.

For listeners

Do members need an app or an account?

Not to read captions. They open the QR code or link and read the captions in their own language in their phone's browser. Listening to the translation in earbuds and joining the group conversation work with a free Espero account, and an email address is all it takes to create one.

Which languages are included?

Over 100 languages are included, such as Ukrainian, Arabic, Persian, Somali, Swahili and Amharic. Text can be read in all languages, and in many languages you can also listen to the translation.

Can listeners ask questions?

Yes. A listener can send a question in their own language, and the organizer can show it on the room screen without the sender's name.

The question is written in the group conversation. The feature is available to all organizers.

For the sound team

How do we connect Espero to our sound system?

Speech reaches Espero from a microphone or the mixing desk. On a computer, choose This device, Mixer (USB) or Dante in the guide's Audio step. A phone can take the desk's output through a compatible USB audio device. Test the audio before the service starts.

Is time used during hymns and breaks?

Time is used only while the microphone is on, and an active microphone uses time even during silence. Pause the microphone during breaks. If the hymn words are saved, keep the microphone on during hymns: the hymn is recognized and its words appear in the listeners' languages.

Can we show the captions on a screen in the church?

Yes. The same viewing link works on a screen or projector in the venue, and you can show the QR code alongside it. The organizer view's Projector opens a large caption view.

Can there be several speakers in different languages?

Yes. Several speakers can take part, each speaking their own language, and everyone follows in theirs.

How are songs shown?

Sung parts are marked with ♫ in the captions and are not read aloud to listeners.

Saved songs and read-together texts are recognized automatically from their words. For a song whose words are not saved, the organizer uses the Song button.

What could this look like in your church?

Tell us which languages you need. We can look at event captions and continuing the conversation together. We will arrange an introduction by email.
