Community Guidelines & Acceptable Use
Last updated: 7 June 2026 · Draft — pending legal review before launch.
Espero exists to help people understand each other across languages. These rules keep it safe. They apply to everyone, and breaking them can mean content removal, feature limits, or account termination. You can report or block anyone at any time, and we can act on reported content.
What is not allowed
- Child safety — zero tolerance. Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any sexualisation of minors is forbidden. We remove it, terminate the account, and report it to the relevant authorities (e.g. NCMEC) as required by law.
- Illegal activity — no using Espero to commit crimes, sell illegal goods, or facilitate terrorism or violence.
- Harassment & hate — no bullying, threats, stalking, or attacks on people based on protected characteristics.
- Non-consensual & sexual content — no sharing intimate images without consent; no sexual content involving minors (see above).
- Spam, scams & impersonation — no bulk unsolicited messaging, fraud, phishing, or pretending to be someone you are not.
- Malware & abuse of the service — no distributing malware, or attacking, overloading, scraping or reverse-engineering Espero.
How we keep Espero safe
As required for apps with user-generated content, Espero provides:
- Report — every message and user can be reported in the app; reports reach our team.
- Block — you can block any user; blocked users can't contact you.
- Removal & enforcement — we act on reports of objectionable content, typically removing it and ejecting violators within 24 hours.
- Filtering — we work to filter and prevent objectionable content where technically possible (cloud chats).
- Contact — reach our safety team at safety@espero.live.
